Career Opportunities

Volunteerism is a hallmark of all Erickson communities and is central to our mission of sharing our gifts to create communities that celebrate life. We would love to have you join our growing group of volunteers. Most of our opportunities take place at Renaissance Gardens, the extended care neighborhood which is located on many Erickson campuses.

We'll do our best to match your talents and interests with the needs of our residents. Just bring your enthusiasm and a caring attitude, and we'll work hard to ensure that our time together is enriching and joyful to both you and our residents.

If you have questions that aren't answered below, please feel free to contact us.

Our Vision

Renaissance Gardens is a place where the quality of life for our residents is enhanced through a friendly, interesting, and dedicated corps of volunteers. Our volunteers promote a rewarding and vibrant quality of life for all residents, at any stage of life

Who can volunteer?

We welcome volunteers of all ages, young and old. However, there are a few guidelines for certain age groups:

Volunteers age 13 and under may only volunteer periodically and as part of a group, and their activities must be entertainment-related only. Additionally they must be supervised by an adult, and a community staff member must be present during volunteer time.

Volunteers age 14 to 17 may volunteer their time in accordance with federal child labor laws and state regulations. Guardians are encouraged, but not required, to attend the volunteer interview and a parent or guardian must sign a release and waiver form.

What do volunteers do?

We have lots of volunteer opportunities available at Renaissance Gardens, for example: assisting with activities, wheelchair escorts, musical performances, clerical duties, delivering mail, and conversing with residents.

Choose from one of our many existing volunteer positions or create your own experience! Feel free to share your ideas when you fill out the online application—and let us know what your schedule is like. We'll work with you to match our needs with your availability. There are no miminum or maximum time requirements for volunteers. We welcome any amount of time you can give!

How do I sign up?

To become a Renaissance Gardens volunteer, please follow this simple, five-step* process.

Step 1: Complete an Application

Click here for our online volunteer application. After you submit your application, a representative from our volunteer department will send you some additional forms to complete. If you would prefer to receive the additional forms by mail, please make a note in the online application.

Step 2: Meet the Volunteer Program Coordinator

After you receive and submit your application, our volunteer program coordinator will contact you to schedule an appointment. We require all volunteers to meet with us before making a final decision about volunteering. We are unable to make volunteer assignments for those who cannot meet with us first.

Step 3: Health Screenings and Background Check

All potential volunteers must receive a PPD-test (tuberculosis) and a drug screening test. If you are 18 or older, we also conduct a criminal background check. Both tests are at our expense and take place at the Erickson community where you plan to volunteer. Testing will likely occur on the same day you meet with the volunteer program coordinator.

Step 4: Orientation and Campus Tour

You will attend a 2- to 3-hour volunteer orientation class to familiarize yourself with the lifestyle and procedures at Renaissance Gardens, and we'll give you an initial tour of the Erickson community.

Step 5: Your First Day!

We want your volunteer experience to be one that makes you feel good about yourself, the people you serve, and Erickson! On your first day of volunteering, we'll make sure you're in the right place, introduce you to your supervisor, and give you a service guide that outlines your responsibilities.
