If your loved one moves into "Assisted Living*," he or she will live in a group of residences with other people who are capable of performing some life functions independently, but who need help with others. This means your loved one will have a place to live, eat meals in a dining area, pursue his or her interests, and interact with family, friends, and the surrounding community.
At the same time, your loved one will receive help as needed with such daily activities as taking medication, bathing, and dressing. The help provided should both increase their independence and promote their sense of privacy, dignity, and joy in living.
Ranking Assisted Living capabilities
To assist you in evaluating Assisted Living capabilities, we have created a simple "check-off" list for you to print and fill out. Your responses will create a ranking of Assisted Living capabilities for use in discussions and decision-making with your loved one, family, friends, and care providers. We recommend that, if you call or visit us at Renaissance Gardens, you refer to the lists when you speak with a Renaissance Gardens health care counselor.
