Here we’ll give you a quick overview of Renaissance Gardens—what it is, locations, and so on. These are some of the questions we hear most often in this area:
Q: What is Renaissance Gardens?
Q: Does every Erickson community have a Renaissance Gardens neighborhood?
Q: What health care services does Renaissance Gardens provide?
Q: What are the main reasons someone like me chooses Renaissance Gardens?
Q: What is Renaissance Gardens?
A: Renaissance Gardens is the “health care neighborhood” in retirement communities built and managed by Erickson.
Q: Does every Erickson community have a Renaissance Gardens neighborhood?
A: Each Erickson community typically establishes a Renaissance Gardens neighborhood within a few years of opening. Currently there are ten locations in six states.
Q: What health care services does Renaissance Gardens provide?
A: Renaissance Gardens provides the full range of “extended care” services, including Assisted Living*, Long-Term Nursing Care, Alzheimer’s Care, Short-Term Rehabilitation (physical, occupational, and speech-language therapies), and Respite Care. Each of these services is described in detail in How We Provide Care. Also check Locations to see which communities offer which services.
People who come to Renaissance Gardens may also benefit from the expert, full-time, on-site primary and specialty care available to all people who live in an Erickson community. This is one of the major distinguishing factors between Renaissance Gardens and other extended care providers. (For more information, see Types of Care.)

Q: What health care services does Renaissance Gardens provide?
A: People like you choose Renaissance Gardens because:
- Our emphasis on quality health care. Our doctors are staff members and work on-site. Our nurses are licensed professionals available 24 hours a day. And all of our health care staff— which also includes home care aides, physical, speech, and occupational therapists—are experienced in working with the physical and mental health needs of a population that’s 62 and older.
- Our commitment to your long-term security. If your loved one exhausts his or her funds, he or she may use the entrance deposit to pay for his or her Renaissance Gardens care. If your loved one uses up the entrance deposit** paying for Renaissance Gardens care, he or she will still be able to remain in Renaissance Gardens. But this is rare, happening to only one or two people a year (as the community ages). We help the resident remain a resident via our Benevolent Care Fund (all confidential of course) as well as through participation in the Medicaid program.
- The safety we provide. Each Renaissance Gardens is located within an Erickson community, and each Erickson community is gated, with 24-hour security.
- The lifestyle we offer. For example, your loved one may choose to dine in one of the Renaissance Gardens dining rooms, or go to one of the fine restaurants in the community—each with its own chef and menu.
- We make it easy to get around. We have numerous transportation options, including our on-campus shuttle, shuttles that go off campus, private cars that can be hired for personal outings and appointments, and large buses (some are wheelchair accessible) for group outings.
- There will be no need to move elsewhere as needs change. If your loved one no longer requires the services of Renaissance Gardens, he or she may move into an apartment in one of our other neighborhoods. If your loved one needs different health services, he or she will find them all within Renaissance Gardens— Assisted Living*, Alzheimer’s Care, Short-Term Rehabilitation (physical, occupational, and speech-language therapies), and Long-Term Nursing Care.
- Our residences are private***. Your loved one will never be in a companion suite or semi-private room.
- We provide unlimited visiting 24 hours a day. That means you can visit when it’s convenient to you and your loved one.
- Our expert on-site medical care. Each Erickson community has an on-site Medical Center staffed by full-time primary care physicians who treat only the people at that community—they have no other patients. Unlike the average physician, who treats an average of 2,000 patients each year, our physicians can get to know their patients because they each treat only 400 patients a year.
In addition, each community has specialists in various disciplines—including orthopedics, podiatry, cardiology, and ophthalmology (it varies in each community)— who come in and hold regular weekly office hours.
